My name is Julia Horner. I have worked for the Western Quebec School Board since 2006 as a homeroom teacher, Physical Education teacher, Resource teacher, Vice Principal and Principal. Before becoming a qualified teacher, I was an Educational Assistant in Ontario. I have always felt education was in my blood. I remember fondly going to work with my mom who was an educational assistant for children who had profound special education needs. I realized very early on that special education is a passion of mine and meeting the diverse needs of my students is something I take very seriously.
I believe…
- That every student is entitled to learn in an environment that is physically, emotionally and socially safe.
- That the incredible diversity that exists at Eardley is as asset for all students to learn and develop from.
- That a focus on quality teaching and learning, paired with engagement is a recipe for success.
- That bilingualism is an asset our students need to provide the most opportunity for their futures.
- That every child is entitled to feel they have a place and belong at Eardley Elementary.
- That open, solution focused communication with parents/guardians supports student achievement.
- That working collaboratively and sharing ideas leads to the best experiences for students.
- That the school staff, parents/guardians and surrounding school community partnerships are key to learning enjoyment and success.
- That teaching children to have pride in their school creates a sense of ownership and belonging.
I look forward to working with you and being part of the Eardley community.
