Ministry Exams
Our grade 6 Ministry exams began May 20. This exam is worth 20% of your child’s final mark. We ask that you try as much as possible not to miss school during the assessment period as it is difficult to catch students up when they return. Obviously, if your child is ill, we understand they will be away.
Grade 6 Spaghetti Dinner-Thank you
Thank you to Vanessa Turner, our Community Development Agent, Eardley Home and School and our grade 6 students for preparing an amazing spaghetti dinner last week. Everything was delicious!
Telus Wise
On Thursday, May 29th at 6:30pm we have a free webinar for parents presented by TELUS Wise. This presentation will focus on how we can support our youth in a digital world. Topics will include screen time, gaming, sexting, cyberbullying and more. Follow the link to sign up! https://forms.office.com/r/fU9rgiHqkC
Our students took part in an excellent presentation in April. So good, we thought you might also enjoy it. It was very informative.
Graduation Slideshow-Final reminder
If you have not already, please send a photo of your graduate from kindergarten or kindergarten age and another recent photo if you would like your child to be part of the slide show. I will share the slide show with the graduating students and their families.
Swim to Survive
Grade 3 students from Mme Tanya and Ms. McMullen’s classes will be heading to the pool on Friday, May 30.
Governing Board
Our next governing board meeting is May 28.
Family Picnic Save the Date
You’re invited to join us for a picnic in our yard on the last day of school (June 23). All you need is a lawn chair and a packed lunch. Classes will decide on a meeting space and eat together as a classroom community during our regular lunch hour (11:25am). It’s a nice way to end the year and celebrate as a class with our families.
Calling all Bike Experts
We have a selection of bikes for students to use during different activities. Mr. Brad and Ms. M have made a valiant effort in maintaining them, but alas, we need your help. If you are willing to volunteer to provide some general maintenance on our bikes, please contact Ms. M at smccorkell@wqsb.qc.ca.

Planning for Next Year-Program Changes
We have begun planning for next year. If you are considering a program change for your child, French Immersion to English for example, please contact me. It is important that we finalize numbers as we prepare for class groupings for the 25-26 school year. It seems easy to make class changes once the year begins but it is not. Our classes are organized with maximum capacity in mind. Please make these requests now.
Pollinator Garden
Our kindergarten and cycle 1 classes will be creating pollinator gardens this week. Thank you, Ivy Sullivan and her family, for supporting this initiative by donating the soil for our garden boxes.
CCQ Support
Our school nurse will be speaking to our grade 5 students on May 30 as a support for the CCQ program.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
