Good Morning Eardley Community,
I hope this email finds you well as we head into a long weekend. I have a short but important update for you this morning, please see below.
Progress Reports
- October Progress Reports are now available on the Mozaik Portal.
- Please see the attached instructions for accessing the progress reports.
- If you require assistance with the portal please contact Stephanie Lelievre @ SLelievre@wqsb.qc.ca
- A reminder that the intention of the progress report is an opportunity for your child’s teacher to inform you of your child’s current progress.
- A complete report card with detailed comments will come after the end of Term 1. All Term 1 report cards will be available on November 18th, 2022.
- Family-Teacher Meetings will take place during the evening of November 24th and during the day of November 25th. All meetings will be virtual in nature using the Teams platform.
A quick reminder that Monday is a holiday, and therefore, the school is closed. Wishing everyone a lovely long weekend and a Happy Thanksgiving if you celebrate.

Photo Day & Retake Day
- Photo Day is this Friday, October 7th.
- In the event that your child is not at school on the 7th, please do not worry. Our photo retake day is November 17th, 2022 and they will have the opportunity to have their photo taken on this day.
Eardley Swag Days
- To boost school spirit and recognize outstanding acts of Kindness, Eardley Elementary will be having school wide assemblies once per month.
- On each spirit day we encourage our students to wear our school colors (blue & white) or their Eardley swag.
- Please do not worry, we are in the works of new schoolwide swag order, stay tuned for more exciting details!
- Please see the attached memo ‘Eardley Swag Spirit Days’ detailing the dates and for more information.
Holiday & PD Days
- Please find attached the school calendar.
- A reminder that Monday is a holiday.
- Thursday and Friday next week are PD Days, there are no classes. Daycare is open for those who registered by September 30th, 2022.
Pizza Days
- Pizza days are every Monday.
- Please note that if there is a holiday OR Pd Day on a Monday there will be no pizza. Pizza day will default to the following week. Therefore, please send your child(ren) with a lunch and snacks on the Tuesday.
Save the Date
- Home & School has been working hard to plan upcoming community events.

- Pancake Breakfast & Winter Market – December 10th from 9:00am – 2:00pm

Governing Board Dates
- Our first Governing Board was a success. Elections were held and our Governing Board Chair is Tanya McCormick; our Vice-Chair is Stephanie Tanguay; and our Parent Committee representative is Veronica Pinero.
- The future dates of our Governing Board are as follows: October 26th, November 23rd, January 25th, March 22nd, April 26th, May 17th

National Day of Truth and Reconciliation
- Please find attached an important memo regarding National Day Truth and Reconciliation (September 30th).
Daycare Services
- In order to manage our operational budget for the 22-23 school year “drop-in” registrations (i.e. sporadic) will not be taken as of October 1st, 2022. Therefore, if you believe you will require occasional (i.e. sporadic) daycare services throughout the year you must register with Anne Carbonneau by September 30th, 2022. Anne can be reached at acarbonneau@wqsb.qc.ca
School Travel Plan
- Eardley Elementary School is involved in the development of a School Travel Plan (plan de déplacements scolaire) by MOBI-O and the City of Gatineau.
- This project aims to improve the management of travels around the school, and to improve safety, with a focus on active travels (on foot, by bike, etc.) between home and school.
- Your answers as a parent/guardian are particularly important throughout this process.

Annual General Meeting
- Our AGM was held on Wednesday, September 14th. We had four Governing Board parent/guardian positions to be filled. I am pleased to announce that Karl Lambert and Tanya McCormick were successful in gaining a seat on our 22-23 Governing Board. We still have two positions to be filled, as no other parent/guardian put their name forward. Therefore, if you are interested in sitting on our Governing Board to serve a two-year term please send me your name. I will fill the two remaining spots on a first come, first serve basis.

Rapid Tests
- At home rapid testing kits have been delivered and distributed to each student.
- Attached is a helpful infographic that explain how to successfully administer a rapid test.
- As mentioned in our Welcome
Back Guide – Rapid Testing at school has been mandated by Public Health
and the Ministry of Education.
- Rapid Testing at school will still occur – consent from
parent/guardian is mandatory for rapid test to be administered.
- Please find the consent form attached. If you would
like to give permission, please fill out and return.
- Consent will be valid for the entirety of the 22-23 school year.
- Protocol will be as follows:
- Child displays symptoms
- Child assessed and sent to the office (no isolation room).
- Front office will call parent/guardian for pick-up & CONSENT for rapid testing (we will always confirm consent, even with the returned consent form on file).
- Child goes home (not siblings) and are monitored. If symptoms disappear, they may return the next school day. *Exception, your child must be fever free without the aid of medication for 24 hours*

Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Our school resource team has been working hard to send out all of our 2022-2023 IEPs.
- If your child has an IEP for the 22-23 school year, please expect an electronic copy to be sent for your approval/collaboration by September 9th, 2022.
