Further to the announcement of the school closures, we will need to survey our community to see who will need access to technology. Please read the below carefully –
Access to Technology –
- The access to school sanctioned technology is available for those students who do not have technology at home.
- You can request the following –
- a laptop/chromebook
- An internet stick (MIFI) to provide internet in the home
- A laptop/chromebook & MIFI
- If you require access to ANY
technology please do the following –
- Email Hannah Patrick at hpatrick@wqsb.qc.ca
- Include your child(ren)’s names who need access to technology
- Include the type of technology needed – #1, #2 OR #3

Students – Samantha Halpin and Hannah Patrick
Technology Needed – Samantha Halpin – #1:Laptop/Chromebook; Hannah Patrick – #3:Laptop/Chromebook & MIFI
If you require technology please email Hannah Patrick @ hpatrick@wqsb.qc.ca by Tuesday, December 21st at 12:00pm.
All devices will be prepared and ready for pick up on January 6th, 2022. A pick-up schedule will be organized by Ms. Patrick and you will be notified of your pick-up time by December 22nd. Upon the pick-up of the device you will be required to sign the permission form attached.
Additionally, please note that I understand this is quite short notice. However, this information was just relayed and we are quickly jumping into action to service your needs.
We will continue to work together as a team and community to ensure our students’ individual needs are met.

Good Afternoon Eardley Community,
I hope this email finds you safe and well. I have an extremely important update for you this afternoon, please see below.
- ALL Elementary Schools are closed effective December 21st, 2021 due to the rising Covid-19 cases across the province of Quebec.
- There are NO online/virtual expectations for December 21st and 22nd. ALL students are on holidays effective end of day December 20th, 2021.
- Daycare services for December 21st and 22nd will remain OPEN to those families who are already registered for daycare – Daycare will run from 7:00am – 6:00pm.
- Only ONE exception – if you are a health care worker and NOT regularly registered for daycare you can have access to services. You will need to provide proof of employment to secure a spot within our daycare. Please contact Anne Carbonneau at acarbonneau@wqsb.qc.ca if you will need daycare as a health care worker.
- The schools will remain closed to in person learning until January 10th, 2022.
- January 6th, 2022 is now a PD DAY to allow for the school to prepare technology needs and paper packages of supplementary work for online learning.
- January 7th, 2022 will be virtual learning following the school’s regular schedule i.e. 7:55am – 2:30pm. Your child’s homeroom teacher will email you with the day’s schedule and expectations by January 6th, 2022.
- As it stands right now, we are back to in person learning as of January 10th, 2022.
- Daycare services will be open and accessible for the 6th and 7th of January – however, more information to come whether or not this is an Emergency Daycare OR open to all regularly scheduled families, stay tuned.
- If your child has been away, you may come to the school to collect your Rapid Tests – Please contact Stephanie Lelievre at SLelievre@wqsb.qc.ca to organize a pick-up time.

- Rapid Testing for ALL
Elementary School Families
- Further to my communication on the 15th, five rapid tests will be given to every elementary student at Eardley.
- The tests have arrived at the school and will be handed out by each homeroom teacher today, December 17th, 2021.
- Please see the attached
documentation to prepare. A paper copy of the instructions have also been
provided in French and English for all students.
- What does this mean?
- Each student will be sent home with five rapid tests (December 17th, 2021).
- We will not be making appointments for parent(s)/guardian(s) to pick up the rapid tests.
- The rapid tests can be used at your discretion, they are not mandatory for school attendance.
- If you complete a rapid test at home due to your child(ren) displaying Covid-19 symptoms and the result is positive, they are to seek testing from a Santé Publique testing centre – the child is NOT to attend school.
- If you complete a rapid test at home due to your child(ren) displaying Covid-19 symptoms and the result is negative, the same rule applies – please monitor your child’s symptoms and do NOT send your child to school while sick.
- No student should be coming to school while sick, regardless of the rapid test result.
- What does this mean?
There has been no further communication from the Ministry of Education regarding additional testing kits. If the school receives more testing kits, I will inform the community.

- With the Holiday Season approaching, please find attached a communication from our Secretary General, George Singfield detailing the protocol to follow if your family is travelling out of the country.
- Unvaccinated and partially vaccinated youth 12 to 17 years of age are subject to the 14-day quarantine, and all testing requirements for pre-entry, arrival and Day-8 tests, whether or not they are accompanied by travellers who qualify as a fully vaccinated traveller.
- Unvaccinated and partially vaccinated youth under 12 years of age are subject to the 14-day quarantine, and all testing requirements for pre-entry, arrival and Day-8 tests, whether or not they are accompanied by travellers who qualify as a fully vaccinated traveller.

- Bus Lane
- A reminder to our parents and guardians that the bus lane is not to be used at any point during the day – this is directly related to safety and security. If you’re dropping off a student, a lunch, picking a student up etc. please park in our designated pick-up and drop-off parking spots and walk into the front lobby. Stephanie Lelievre, our front office staff will gladly help you with any inquiry you may have. *Only exception is during inclement weather*

Traditions
- As the holiday season approaches for many of us, we here at Eardley are looking to learn more about our community’s celebrations and traditions.
- To foster learning and acceptance within our school walls, we are turning to you, our community for help!

- Tomorrow is the last day to bring in items for our annual food drive to help out our community.
- Scour those pantries, clean out those closets…tomorrow we are looking for donations of household items (i.e. cleaner, Kleenex, Ziplock bags etc.)
