Good Morning Eardley Community,
I hope this email finds you all safe and well after the long weekend. I have an important update for you today, please see below.
Covid-19; School Start-Up Guide – October
- Please find attached the most up to date infographic provided by CISSSO. This document has been updated from the one shared last week.
- https://www.quebec.ca/en/education/back-to-school-2021 – The following link is an excellent resource provided by the Ministry with all up to date and accurate Covid-19 information.
Rapid Testing @ Eardley Elementary
- Rapid Testing will begin tomorrow at Eardley Elementary.
- Parental/guardian consent is required before rapid tests are administered at school. Emergency contacts within our system are not allowed to give consent for the rapid testing.
- Rapid Tests will be implemented for students who show Covid-19 symptoms at school (with received consent).
- The rapid test does not replace the PCR Covid-19 tests completed by Public Health at testing centres.
- The trained staff at Eardley administering the rapid
tests on any given day will be the following –
- Samantha Halpin
- Stephanie Lelievre
- Kim Teske
- Jenna Vatcher Robertson
- Anne Carbonneau
- Kayla Perreault
- Hannah Patrick
How will it work?
- If your child exhibits Covid-19 symptoms at school, they will be removed from class and placed within our isolation room (this is our current practice).
- Office staff will phone home and notify you that your child(ren) will need to be picked up due to Covid-19 symptoms.
- During this phone call we will ask for verbal consent to perform a rapid test – if consent is given, one of the above adults will administer the test (*there will always be two adults present during the administration of the rapid test).
- Upon the arrival of the parent/guardian to the school, the attached consent form will be completed to coincide with the verbal consent received on the phone (*if you do not give consent for a rapid test to be performed, this consent form will not need to be signed. Regular protocol will follow – i.e. 10 day isolation period or a recommendation for a Covid-19 test at a testing centre*)
- A student whose rapid test result is positive must be tested for Covid-19, and remain home until the Covid-19 test result is received. A student whose rapid test result is negative may return to school when the symptoms are resolved. Please see the accompanying letter from WQSB explaining this protocol.
- Regardless, a student should not come to school sick
Picture Day
- Please do not worry, if your child was away for picture day we will have picture retakes on November 1st, 2021.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or concerns.
Please enjoy the sunshine today,
Samantha Halpin

- The purpose of the first written communication is to update parents/guardians on the progress of your child’s academics and behaviour.

Good Morning Eardley Community,
I hope this email finds you well. I have a short update this morning regarding our upcoming Meet the Teacher and Annual General Assembly, please see below.
- Meet the Teacher –
- To ensure the safety and security of our staff and our parents/guardians, Meet the Teacher will be virtual this year and will take place on September 9th from 3:30pm – 5:30pm.
- All virtual links were to be sent to parent(s) and guardian(s) yesterday. If you did not receive a link, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher directly.
- A reminder that this is an initial meeting, if you have any questions or concerns pertaining to your specific child please contact the teacher directly to schedule an individual meeting for a later date.
- The purpose of the Meet the Teacher is to get general information about your child’s upcoming school year and ask any general questions you may have (i.e. how to contact, how many hours of a certain subject is taught etc.).
- Annual General Assembly (AGM) –
- Our AGM will also be virtual this year and take place on September 9th at 6:00pm.
- The AGM is held to elect the members of our Governing Board for the 2021-2022 school year. **The Governing Board is the governing body of the school which is comprised of parent representatives and staff representatives. We discuss items such as: budget, fundraisers, school success plans, community events etc.
- ** For the 2021-2022 school year we have TWO parent openings available for election. Each elected member serves two years.
- Additionally, we will also elect a Parent Committee representative from the Governing Board members. This representative will sit on a School Board Committee, which meets approximately 5 times a year. Furthermore, information regarding the SEAC (Special Education Advisory Committee) will be shared and the parent representative of a child with special needs (a child with an IEP) will be nominated to sit on the SEAC committee, which meets approximately 5 times a year.
- If you cannot attend the General Assembly and would like to put your name forth for nomination for the Governing Board, Parent Committee or SEAC you MUST contact Samantha Halpin and share your intent to run for election. You will be required to write a letter stating your intention and the reason why you should be nominated. This letter will be read by Samantha Halpin at the General Assembly during the appropriate election
- If you wish to attend the virtual AGM, please send Samantha Halpin an email stating your intent @ shalpin@wqsb.qc.ca and the password protected link will be shared with you via email.
- For more information regarding the Governing Board, please see below –
