    Eardley Update Sept 22, 2023

    Hello Everyone,

It’s Friday! It looks to be a beautiful weekend and I hope you get to enjoy it.

    Back to School BBQ

Thank you so much to our amazing Home and School who put on a fun filled BBQ. This group works very hard to support our school and their efforts have a direct impact on your child’s school experience. If you are interested in becoming part of the Eardley Home and School, please contact them at eardlyhs@gmail.com.

    Governing Board

We have 5 of our 7 Governing Board parent members and are looking for 2 more. If you are interested in becoming part of the decision-making process within the school, please let me know. Our first virtual meeting is September 27th at 6:00pm.

    Community Excursion Form

A community excursion form was sent out with the last email. Please complete the form and send it to your child’s homeroom teacher as soon as possible. Students require this form for the Terry Fox Walk.

Sharing in Celebrations with a treat

Look for a form that will be going home with your child to provide permission to share in celebratory treats. Please complete the form and return it to your child’s teacher. It has not been sent yet but will be very soon.

    Sharing in Cultural Traditions/Observances/Holidays

We are committed to representing the diversity within our Eardley community. One way is by announcing different holidays/observances/traditions over the announcements. Please feel free to email me so your dates can be included.

    Volunteering/Record Checks

Please remember that all volunteers must have a valid criminal record check prior to volunteering. The record checks are free at the police station with a letter from the school.

    Emergency Preparedness

We have completed our emergency preparedness drills. The next drill will be unannounced and with the Fire Department/Police Department.

    Should My Child Stay Home

The season is upon us! Please see the attached cheat sheet to help you decide if your child should stay home from school. The general rule is if a child is unwell/uncomfortable, they should stay home until they are better, without symptom reducing medication.

    Truth and Reconciliation Day

Eardley will be acknowledging Truth and Reconciliation Day on September 29th. Students and parents are ecourage to wear orange in support of  reconciliation and solidarity.

    Soccer Tournament

The annual WQSB soccer tournament will be held October 11th at Onslow elementary.  Good Luck, Wolves!

    Lost and Found

The lost and found is growing. We do not have the space to store items for long periods. We will be returning labelled items to students and donating the remaining items at the end of each month. Please label your child’s items, including sweatshirts that may be taken off in the afternoons. The lost and found is located in the foyer of the school and I invite you to have a look.

    Picture Day

Picture Day will take place October 4.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
