As principal of Eardley School, I stress the importance of student learning and well-being. My philosophy of education is built on the foundation of the following: instructional leadership that fosters an environment of teacher learning, the creation of a collaborative community within the school to impact student success, and a strong focus on a positive culture within the school that impacts the mental health and well-being of everyone involved. We offer diverse programming here at Eardley with a focus on special needs, strengthening teacher practices, incorporating student voice and choice, and ultimately ensuring everyone is committed to student learning in a variety of ways.
I have worked for the Western Quebec School Board for 12 years as a homeroom teacher, resource teacher, educational consultant with a focus on enriching literacy throughout the board, Principal of Buckingham Elementary and Poltimore Elementary and now as Principal at Eardley Elementary. My experience as an educational consultant allowed me to travel to our 19 elementary and secondary schools in a variety of settings, both rural and urban. This experience allowed me to understand the diverse needs of our learners throughout the school board. I am passionate about bringing my experiences and expertise to Eardley Elementary as I entrench myself within our school community and culture. We are here for our students and Eardley Elementary is dedicated to fostering both academic and citizenship skills that will prepare them for the next chapter in their lives: secondary school. As Rita Pierson says so eloquently: “every kid needs a champion” and each student has a champion here at Eardley Elementary!
Sincerely,
Samantha Halpin
