Good Morning Eardley Community,
I hope this email finds you all well. I have an important update for you this morning, please see below.
AM Drop Off
- With the uncertainty of Covid-19 and the start up of school, the protocol was for any student who walked or was dropped off to line-up outside the front entrance for 7:55am.
- With the colder weather arriving and our parking lot getting busy most mornings, we will now ask ALL walkers, bussers, and drop-off students to go around to the back of the school starting at 7:40am.
- Supervision starts at 7:40am each morning and once a student arrives (either by walking, bus or dropped-off) they will head to the back of the school for before school recess. The bell will ring at 7:55am and all students will line up with their class outside to be greeted by their teacher to head inside for the start of classes.
- Therefore, no students are to line-up outside the front entrance. They are all to report to the back of the building starting at 7:40am. Please note that supervision is not available until 7:40am. Dropping your child off before this time will result in a daycare charge
- If you arrive after the bell (7:55am), please pull into our parking lot, park and escort your child into the office to sign them in. This will result in a late arrival. Please DO NOT use or park in the bus lane at any time.
- This change takes into effect November 22, 2022.

Ventilation @ Eardley
- A reminder to all parents and guardians that the Ministry of Education is recommending that whenever possible to open windows during teaching and recreation time to increase the air flow within the populated classrooms. Therefore, we are asking that you please send your child(ren) with an extra warm sweater to use during the Winter months.
- Please note that we are taking into account the extreme cold weather warnings.
Parent Committee Survey
- For Parent Committee to function, it is fundamental for the committee to understand parents’ concerns, priorities and opinions on the range of topics impacting their children. It is for this reason that the committee will regularly invite you, our parents, to respond to periodic EPCA surveys. Please take the time – usually five minutes or less – to answer the survey questions so that the committee can work more effectively in the interest of our English educational community in Québec.

Reminder – 2022-2023 Consent Forms
- In previous years, the WQSB has asked for consent in three areas – publication, internet usage and releasing information to Centre Intégré de santé de Service Sociaux.
- In previous years this has been completed on the Mozaik Portal; unfortunately, this year the options were not available through the portal for you as the parent/guardian to consent.
- Therefore, the attached form has been sent home as a hard copy.
- We ask that you take the time to review the consent form and return it to the school by Monday October 24th, 2022.
- This will ensure the continuation of services and allow the school to respect each parent/guardian’s consent based upon the three categories.
Reminder – School Travel Plan
- Eardley Elementary School is involved in the development of a School Travel Plan (plan de déplacements scolaire) by MOBI-O and the City of Gatineau.
- This project aims to improve the management of travels around the school, and to improve safety, with a focus on active travels (on foot, by bike, etc.) between home and school.
- Your answers as a parent/guardian are particularly important throughout this process.
- If you wish to participate, the survey is accessible at the following link: https://mobi-o.limesurvey.net/996213?lang=en
Reminder – Community Engagement
- This year Eardley Elementary has received new provincial funding to have a Community Learning Centre (CLC).
- The Community Learning Centre (CLC) approach is the creation and promotion of partnerships which provide a range of services and activities, during and after the school day, to help meet the needs of our learners, their families and the wider community. The aim is to support the holistic development of our students, families and communities.
- In order to understand and meet the needs of our learners we need to hear from you – the parents & guardians. We are asking for you to participate in this short (five minute) survey to better understand the needs of our community
