Good Morning Eardley Community,
I hope this email finds you safe and well. I have a short update for you this morning, please see below.
- First
Day Back
- Our students came back with excitement and settled in to our new protocols. While an adjustment period is needed, we are working hard to explain the reasoning behind the procedural masks, providing much needed mask breaks and finding a rhythm/routine to our new reality. Overall, our students did an amazing job on Monday and I am so proud of their resilience!
- School
grounds
- A reminder that all staff and students from grade 1-6 are wearing procedural masks on school grounds, this includes outside as well.
- It is recommended that when a parent/guardian is on school grounds that they are wearing a face covering or mask as well.
- Popcorn
Fundraiser
- Popcorn is BACK! We will be selling popcorn on Wednesday, May 19th during lunch.
- Connexions
Webinar
- Getting Organized: The Key to School Success
- Please find attached the School Success memo detailing the free webinar!
- FREE
WEBINAR
- Deborah MacNamara is back! Eardley is pleased to announce the next session in free webinars on May 19th at 6:30pm. The session is entitled Making Sense of Anxiety and will take an in depth look at anxiety in youth.
- The link to the webinar can be found in the attachment.
- Red
Zone
- Starting Monday, May 17th the City of Gatineau will be designated as a Red Zone. We will be moving out of a Red Zone with Special Measures. Please find attached a correspondence from George Singfield, our Secretary General.
- This has no real implication for our elementary students – our protocols and measures remain status quo.
As always, I am available should you have any questions or concerns.
Please enjoy the sunshine,

Good Afternoon Eardley Community,
I hope this email finds you well and enjoying the sunshine today. Further to the communication sent earlier this week, please find attached the May 10th Return Parent-Guardian Memo. Within this memo you will find all necessary information for our return to school. The most notable change is the wearing of pediatric procedural masks for grades 1-6. I have also re-attached our Covid-19 protocol, as our guidelines from Public Health and the Ministry of Education have not changed since confinement. Please take time to review the attached documents before your child’s return on Monday, May 10th.
These past five weeks have been anything but easy; however, time and time again our students, staff, parents and guardians rose above the challenges and worked together to maintain unity. I continue to be impressed and uplifted by our students resiliency and strength. I am very much looking forward to seeing our students on Monday morning and in true Eardley fashion we will be welcoming our students back with style! I encourage our staff and students to show their Eardley pride by wearing either Eardley swag or a piece of blue clothing upon our return on Monday!
As always, I am available should you have any questions or concerns.
Please enjoy the remainder of your week and weekend ahead.
All the best,
Samantha Halpin

Good Afternoon Eardley Community,
I hope this email finds you safe and well. I have a short update for our community this afternoon, please see below.
Earlier this afternoon, Premier Legault announced that the City of Gatineau will now be a designated Red Zone with some Special Measures. This has a direct impact our elementary schools and effective May 10th, 2021 we will be re-opening our doors and returning to in person learning. At this time, this is the information I have available. Once I have clear guidelines and information on our daily functions (i.e. safety measures, mask requirements etc.) I will send out to our community. For now, I want to inform our community that we are indeed returning to in person learning on Monday, May 10th. I am sure this is welcomed news for many.
I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your hard work and dedication as you have juggled many work/household priorities during confinement. Of course, as we re-open our doors, we will do so with care and caution; ensuring we are following all Ministry and Public Health guidelines to keep our school community safe .
Please stay tuned for more detailed information to come.
For now, please stay safe and healthy. I look forward to seeing all of our students’ smiling faces Monday morning.
