Does Your Child Have Special Needs?
May 19 at 6:30pm there will be an online session offered providing information for a Registered Disability Saving Plan (RDSP). This plan is designed specifically for children with special needs, who qualify for the Disability Tax Credit. The RDSP is designed to plan for your child’s future. Contributions to the plan can range and for some, depending on family income, may not need to contribute funds at all. The government grants that are provided for an RDSP are amazing. Please join us for the information session and put your child in the best position for the future. Please see attached flyer and link below.

Preparing Your Child for a School Community
Eardley is pleased to offer a three-part webinar series featuring Dr. Deborah MacNamara. This series is designed to provide practical strategies to help families support their children as they navigate and grow within the school community.
Dr. MacNamara is a counsellor, author, and researcher whose work focuses on child development and the relationships that support healthy growth. She helps caregivers better understand children’s needs so they can foster strong connections and create environments where children can thrive at home, at school, and beyond.
While each session stands on its own, attending all three can offer a more well-rounded perspective, as the topics naturally complement one another. To learn more about Dr. MacNamara and her work, please visit: https://macnamara.ca/about#/.
The Roots of Resilience and Resourcefulness
Humans are some of the most adaptive creatures on the planet, with the capacity to overcome adversity and find creative solutions to our problems. While it is within everyone’s capacity to be resilient and resourceful, this potential is not always realized for everyone. Raising resourceful and resilient children and teens has never been more important and the role of tears in this process never more misunderstood. Adults play a key role in cultivating the roots of resilience that have lasting effects on their capacity to endure adversity and find a way through.

Who’s in Charge? Why Kids Need Caring Leaders
An increasing number of children and adolescents are presenting as dominant, demanding, and controlling in their relationships with adults—at home and in the classroom. When the tables turn and children assume positions of dominance, the child–adult relationship becomes strained, learning becomes harder to sustain, and both adults and children can feel stuck in exhausting power struggles. This presentation helps parents and educators make sense of why this shift is happening, why many well-intended strategies inadvertently intensify it, and what children are communicating through dominant behaviour. Through a developmental and relational lens, participants gain clarity about how adults can reclaim their leadership role with warmth, confidence, and care—restoring conditions in which children can relax, receive guidance, and grow toward their full developmental potential.

The expression of frustration and aggression in children and teens can take on many forms including temper tantrums and various forms of attack. Part of making headway requires understanding the roots of frustration and aggression and how to deal with the resulting behaviours. This presentation will focus on strategies for dealing with a frustrated child while preserving one’s relationship to them. It will address the importance of setting limits and helping children learn they can survive futilities that are part of life.
