What’s Happening at Eardley?
Provincial Election
October 5 will be a PD Day due to provincial elections. Daycare services will be available for those who registered. Please note, daycare will close at 4:00pm to allow employees time to vote. April 16 will now be a regular school day.
Parking
Please ensure that you park in the designated visitor parking spaces, which are located along the row closest to the school. There are also a limited number of staff parking spaces at the far end of the lot near the pick-up area. Visitor parking spaces are marked.
Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC)
If you are interested in putting your name forward to be part of SEAC, please submit your information to me, no later than Sept. 30. Your child must have an Individual Education Plan (IEP) in order to be eligible for this committee. The selection of members for this committee will be made at the first Parent Committee meeting. This is not a school-based committee but rather a board-based committee.
Emergency Preparedness
We have been practicing our emergency preparedness procedures this week and will continue into next week. Students may come home talking about Lock Out (Fire Drill) and Lock Downs.
Back to School BBQ
Thank you to our AMAZING Home and School for a successful BBQ. It was really nice to get together as a school community for an evening of fun.
Home and School
Our Home and School Association operates entirely through the dedication of volunteers. We encourage you to consider getting involved, whether it’s helping with a single event or becoming a regular volunteer. Your support helps create enriching experiences for all Eardley students.

Picture Day
Picture Day is scheduled for October 2.
Health Emergency Forms
We have sent home health information forms. Please review the form carefully, verify that all information is accurate, complete any missing sections, and return it to the school as soon as possible.
Having up-to-date health information is essential to ensuring your child’s safety and well-being at school. If forms are not returned, Ms. Ashley will need to follow up with families individually to obtain the required information, which can be a time-consuming process. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support in helping us keep our records current.
Have Questions? Start with the Teacher
If you have questions about classroom routines or something your child shared, your child’s teacher is the best place to start. They know your child and their daily environment best. If you’re not sure who to contact, reach out to the school office, and we’ll happily direct your message to the right person.
Weekly Question
Each week your child will take part in class discussion around the question of the week. This week’s question was “What positive actions can you take if you see someone being treated unfairly or bullied?”. You may want to chat with your child at home as well.
Terry Fox Walk
Students will be participating in the Terry Fox walk on Monday, September 28 (Rain date: September 29. Please see the link below should you wish to contribute to our fundraising efforts for cancer research. Students are expected to attend all scheduled school-day events. Staffing and supervision plans are based on full student participation. Please make sure you have signed and returned your child’s community walk form.

National Day of Truth and Reconciliation
On September 30, we encourage families, students and staff to wear orange as we recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This important day provides an opportunity to honour Survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never returned home, and reflect on the lasting impacts of this chapter in Canada’s history. Through age-appropriate learning activities and meaningful conversations, we will promote understanding, respect, and reconciliation. As a school community, students and staff will also participate in a collaborative project to commemorate this day and demonstrate our commitment to learning and reflection.
Severn Grandfather Teachings
Our first school assembly of the year will take place on September 29. During our monthly assemblies, we recognize students who demonstrate the virtue we have been focusing on throughout the month. Our recognition program is guided by the Seven Grandfather Teachings, which encourage students to develop strong character and positive relationships with others. The teaching for September is Bravery. Students who show courage by doing what is right, trying new things, standing up for themselves or others, and facing challenges with confidence may be recognized during the assembly.
