Provincial Election
October 5 will be a PD Day due to provincial elections. Daycare services will be available for those who registered. Please note, daycare will close at 4:00pm to allow employees time to vote. April 16 will now be a regular school day.
Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC)
SEAC is an advisory committee mandated to provide recommendations to help improve services for students with Exceptionalities. Your child must have an Individual Education Plan (IEP) in order to be eligible for this committee. The selection of members for this committee will be made at the first Parent Committee meeting. This is not a school-based committee but rather a board-based committee.
If you are interested in putting your name forward to be part of SEAC, please submit your information to me or directly through the link https://westernquebec.ca/26-2027-seac/. The attached flyer has more information.
Emergency Preparedness
We have almost completed our emergency preparedness drills. We will be conducting our final Lock Down drill with the support of our community officer, Officer Larente.

Attached you will find two Home and School fundraisers. One is for fall décor and the other is for Pickle Vixens.

Picture Day is scheduled for October 2.
Health Emergency Forms
We have sent home health information forms. Please review the form carefully, verify that all information is accurate, complete any missing sections, and return it to the school as soon as possible.
Having up-to-date health information is essential to ensuring your child’s safety and well-being at school. If forms are not returned, Ms. Ashley will need to follow up with families individually to obtain the required information, which can be a time-consuming process. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support in helping us keep our records current.
Weekly Question
Each week your child will take part in class discussion around the question of the week. This week’s question was “How can you tell if your words or actions might hurt someone’s feelings?”. You may want to chat with your child at home as well.
Terry Fox Walk
Students will be participating in the Terry Fox walk on Monday, September 28. Please see the link below should you wish to contribute to our fundraising efforts for cancer research. Students are expected to attend all scheduled school-day events. Staffing and supervision plans are based on full student participation. Please make sure you have signed and returned your child’s community walk form.

National Day of Truth and Reconciliation
We encourage you and your child to wear orange on September 30 as we take this time to honour Survivors, remember those who didn’t return home, and promote education and reflection. We will be taking part in a school community art project as well.
Family Activity Night
Family Activity Night is back! These became very popular last year. Join us for a family night out to create planners. Children also go home with new books for their home library. Please see the attached library.
Parent/Guardian Workshop- Building Bridges: Understanding Tutorship
This workshop may be particularly relevant for families of students with disabilities or diverse support needs who are beginning to think about future planning, legal protections and ways to promote autonomy, and the transition to adulthood.
While tutorship is generally a consideration later in life, the topics explored in this session are relevant for families of students of all ages. Encouraging independence, self-advocacy, informed decision-making, and future planning begins long before adulthood. Early awareness can help families better understand the supports available to their child and make informed choices as needs evolve over time.

October 16- Daycare is closed.
*Please note, on PD Days, daycare closes at 5:00pm unless indicated otherwise. The charge for late pick-up is $3/minute.
