Good Morning Eardley Community,
I hope this email finds you well. I have a short update for you this morning, as we are still awaiting official documents from the Ministry of Education. Furthermore, Education Minister, Mr. Roberge is expected to hold a press conference on Friday afternoon.
Here is what we know at this time –
- We are scheduled to return to in class learning as of January 11th, 2020. Eardley Elementary will be open and ready to welcome your children back after the Winter Break.
- Daycare will be open and running during its usual hours (7:00am – 6:00pm).
- Masks will be mandatory for all students in common areas (outside the classroom). This will be the case for Four Year Old Kindergarten to Grade Six students.
- Masks for grade 5 & 6 students will be mandatory at all times (both inside and outside the classroom).
I have reattached some helpful Covid-19 documents that have been sent out previously to help outline our current practices and protocols. We will continue to enforce all Public Health directives and work together to create a safe and caring learning environment for your children.
Please stay tuned; as more details become available I will send along to our community.
I want to thank you for your patience and support as we navigate through this ever changing situation.
Stay safe,

Good Afternoon Eardley Community,
I hope this email finds you well on your child’s last official day of vacation! We are working hard preparing for our week of remote learning ahead. If you have not already received the email from your child’s homeroom teacher, please do not worry it will come by the days end.
I wanted to send a quick email to let you all know that our team is here to support you as we embark into the world of remote learning again. We know that home and life can get very busy and therefore, we do not want to add any extra stress to your plates. While the Ministry of Education and Premier Legault have mandated remote learning this time around, know that we understand the added pressure. Please do what you can, when you can with your child(ren). Attendance will be taken each day; however, if your child is unable to attend the virtual check-in and you miss the phone call from your child’s teacher – no stress! Please just send your child’s homeroom teacher an email checking in and we will not count the absence.
Here’s wishing you and your families well over the next week. As new information becomes available, I will send promptly to our community. As always, I am available to answer any questions, comments or concerns.
Please stay safe,
Samantha Halpin

Good Morning ,
Please find information from the Ministry regarding Report Cards and communication with families.
Good Morning Eardley Community,
I hope this email finds you well and enjoying our new Winter weather! Our students are beyond thrilled with the snow – making snowmen, building forts and embracing the new cold weather. I continue to be incredibly impressed and uplifted by their positivity and resilience. While this year has brought many challenges, this is certainly a silver lining.
- Inclement
Weather Protocol for Drop Off & Pick Up
- Please find attached our updated inclement weather protocol – we are trying our best to adapt and learn as we enter into the Winter season.
- We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as we fine tune and navigate during the pandemic.
- Please note that this does not affect walkers that are NOT picked up – as they will be dismissed with the bussers and daycare students following regular protocol – they will exit and leave the school property at the bus lane entrance (where the crossing guard is).
- If you are registered for Daycare, the protocol remains the same – please drive through the bus lane and drop off or pick up your child(ren).
- AM
Drop Off & PM Pick Up
- Please note that our Staff parking lot during drop off and pick up will no longer be accessible to vehicles – this will blocked and indicated by staff and pylons. We have had many close calls – collisions and even pedestrians almost hit.
- If you are registered for Daycare, the protocol remains the same – please drive through the bus lane and drop off or pick up your child(ren).
- Family-Teacher
Meetings
- A reminder that Family-Teacher meetings are this Thursday and Friday. Please see the attached memo for sign-up information.
- Violence
Intervention Program with the Gatineau Police
- Eardley is proud to announce their partnership with the Gatineau Police for the 2020-2021 school year. Please find attached a memo detailing our partnership and the programming taking place this year.
- Our Cycle 3 (grade 5 & 6) students will receive an in class presentation from Hervé Saint-Surin, our Community Police Officer on December 1st, 2020.
- Our Code of Conduct and our Violence/Bullying Incident reporting form is attached as well.
- December
17th & 18th
- As you know, the Ministry of Education has closed schools effective December 16th, 2020. Our staff are working hard to prepare a schedule of events for the 17th & 18th for each individual class and this will communicated in early December.
- In the meantime, please find attached the “Distance Learning Tutorials” – this is a pamphlet chalk full of information to guide our parent(s) and guardian(s) in regards to remote learning.
As always, I am available to answer any questions or concerns.
Please take care,
Samantha Halpin
